Clash of Styles
News papers in Russia are never just thrown out. They are re-used.
It's been bothering me for several months now that my 4 year old studens have for place mats a very frivoulous and vulgar kind of news papers. It especially became vivid as a constrast to Paschal Eggs we decorated last Friday. Look closely at the pictures.

It's no worse (maybe much milder) than the aggressive, in-your-face sexuality on American t.v. I know that kids are going to discover stuff like this anyway, but I always wonder what it does to kids when it's just out there, in their face all the time, with adults standing by like insensible robots. This little boy in the photo is so small and cute with his egg, a brand new little man. I know I'm getting melodramatic here, but sometimes humanity is just heartbreaking, and this picture, with your description, makes me feel that.
